Sehr ausdrucksstarke Darstellung mit schönen Hell-Dunkel Kontrasten; nach einem Gemälde mit dem Titel ‘Heraclitus” von Gerard Ter Borch, holländischer Maler und Zeichner. Der Betrachter erblickt einen nachdenklichen Astrologen an einem Tisch mit Globus sitzend. Auf das geöffnete Buch vor ihm hat er seine rechte Hand gelegt. In der bekannten Denkerpose hat er seine Wange auf die linke Hand gestützt. Er trägt eine Kopfbedeckung sowie ein schweres Gewand mit schönen Umflechtungen an den Ärmeln, über einem weißen Hemd mit breiten Ärmeln; - Datierung: um 1750

Very expressive depiction with beautiful light-dark contrasts; after a painting entitled ‘Heraclitus” by Gerard Ter Borch, Dutch painter and draughtsman. The viewer sees a pensive astrologer sitting at a table with a globe. He has placed his right hand on the open book in front of him. In the familiar thinker’s pose he has his cheek resting on his left hand. He wears a headdress as well as a heavy robe with beautiful braiding on the sleeves, over a white shirt with wide sleeves; - Date: c. 1750
