Giacomo BROGI gründete 1860 ein Fotografie-Atelier in Florenz. Es folgten 1869 Geschäftsniederlassungen in Rom und Neapel. In Florenz stand er in Konkurrenz zu den Brüdern Alinari sowie zu Giorgio Sommer und Giorgio Conrad in Neapel. Reisen durch Italien und 1868 in den Nahen Osten, einschließlich Palästina, Ägypten und Syrien. Ab 1871 nahm er Teil an nationalen und internationalen Ausstellungen, häufig ausgezeichnet. Seine Söhne Carlo und Alfredo waren Mitarbeiter im Geschäft, das nach BROGIS Tod 1881 Carlo BROGI übernahm. BROGI trat als Mitbegründer der fotographischen Gesellschaft von Italien hervor und war einer der wichtigsten Fotografen im Italien des 19. Jh.

  • Description: Giacomo BROGI founded a photography studio in Florence in 1860. This was followed by business establishments in Rome and Naples in 1869. In Florence he was in competition with the Alinari brothers as well as with Giorgio Sommer and Giorgio Conrad in Naples. Travelled throughout Italy and in 1868 to the Middle East, including Palestine, Egypt and Syria. From 1871 he participated in national and international exhibitions, often winning awards. His sons Carlo and Alfredo were employees in the business, which Carlo BROGI took over after BROGI’s death in 1881. BROGI was one of the founders of the Italian Photographic Society and one of the most important photographers in 19th century Italy.

  • Condition: Good condition. The image makes a very good impression. The photograph is browned along the margins; there are pressure marks on the fine albumen paper as well as occasional fine scratches; the backing is wavy due to mounting.
