    Die dekorative Darstellung zeigt den englischen Juristen und Politiker Earl of Hardwicke (1690 – 1764), veröffentlicht in “Portraits of Illustrious Personages of Great Britain”. Der Stecher William Thomas Fry war einer der ersten, der mit Stahlplatten experimentierte. Er stach acht Porträts für die zweite Auflage von Edmund Lodges “Portraits of Illustrious Personages of Great Britain”; außerdem trug er mit vier Arbeiten zu Fishers “National Portrait Gallery” (1830-34) bei und elf fertigte er für Jones “National Gallery” (1836).

    The decorative image shows the English jurist and politician Earl of Hardwicke (1690 – 1764), published in “Portraits of Illustrious Personages of Great Britain”. The engraver William Thomas Fry was one of the first to experiment with steel plates. He engraved eight portraits for the second edition of Edmund Lodge’s “Portraits of Illustrious Personages of Great Britain”; he also contributed four works to Fisher’s “National Portrait Gallery” (1830-34) and made eleven for Jones’ “National Gallery” (1836).
