Bruststück des John Knox (* um 1514 in Gifford Gate-1572 Edinburgh), schottischer Reformator und Mitbegründer der Presbyterianischen Kirchen. In seiner Heimat Schottland ist er eine Schlüsselfigur der Reformation . Als wuchtige Steinfigur ist John Knox auf dem internationalen Reformationsdenkmal in Genf verewigt. Genf und Edinburgh sind zwei Stationen im Leben des streitbaren und unbeugsamen Theologen, der sich als wichtiger Wegbereiter der Reformation in Schottland einen Namen gemacht hat. Maßgeblich verfasst er 1560 die sogenannte “Confessio Scotia” mit. Die Verabschiedung durch das Parlament gilt als Gründungsstunde der “Church of Scotland”. - Datierung: 1830

- Zustand: Akzeptabler Zustand. Das Blatt ist minimal altersgemäß verfärbt; mittig an den seitlichen Blattkanten zwei kleine Reste eines Klebestreifens. Das Porträt macht einen sehr guten Eindruck.

Brust of John Knox (* c. 1514 in Gifford Gate-1572 Edinburgh), Scottish reformer and co-founder of the Presbyterian churches. In his native Scotland he is a key figure of the Reformation . John Knox is immortalised as a massive stone figure on the International Reformation Monument in Geneva. Geneva and Edinburgh are two stations in the life of the pugnacious and indomitable theologian, who made a name for himself as an important pioneer of the Reformation in Scotland. In 1560, he was instrumental in writing the so-called “Confessio Scotia”. Its adoption by Parliament is regarded as the founding hour of the Church of Scotland. - Date: 1830

- Condition: Rather good condition. The sheet is minimally discoloured due to its age; centrally at the lateral edges of the sheet two small remnants of an adhesive strip. The portrait makes a very good impression.
